Just this week, I talked to a parent whose 11 year-old daughter discovered pornography. And then discovered it again. And again. She’s now sneaking her phone/ipad/computer-any gadget she can to look at pictures and videos that are what we know to be destructive to her mind and heart.
We’ve got to keep kids safe.
We spend a lot of Technology Tuesday’s warning you about apps and different dangers kids can encounter online and on social media. We started Technology Tuesdays to keep concerned parents aware. But we also really want to keep kids safe—and to help you discover as many resources as are out there that can help you do that.
We recently heard about a program called TeenSafe. It allows you to monitor all of your child’s activity—from their texts, to actual phone locations to call logs. It watches their social media use. It even keeps up with their Kik Messages (which is REALLY helpful) and Whatsapp messages. You can read more about it at www.teensafe.com.
Let’s do everything we can to keep kids and teens safe in their technology usage. We’ll keep the resources coming. Let us know at raisingboysandgirls.com when you hear of more. Thanks for reading. And being a concerned, intentional parent. We’re glad to be in it together.
