Sissy Goff, David Thomas, and Melissa Trevathan have been sitting with children and families as therapists at Daystar Counseling Ministries for over three decades. Through their counseling, podcast, and books and speaking, they've made it their life’s work to offer practical help and hope to families through their resources and experience.

 

Sissy Goff, M. Ed., Lpc-MHSP

Sissy Goff is the Executive Director of Daystar Counseling Ministries in Nashville, Tennessee, where she has been helping kids and parents find confidence in who they are and hope in who God is making them to be for more than three decades. A trusted voice for families, she speaks to parents across the country and is a frequent guest on national media outlets including NBC News, CNN, Good Morning America, Inside Edition, and Christianity Today.

Sissy is the bestselling author of more than 20 books and the co-host of the popular Raising Boys & Girls podcast with David Thomas, which has been downloaded over 15 million times. When she’s not writing, speaking, or counseling, you can often find her at Daystar’s “little yellow house” alongside her puppy counseling assistant-in-training, Patches the Havanese or on Instagram @raisingboysandgirls and @sissygoff.

 

David Thomas, L.M.S.W.

David is the Executive Director of Daystar Counseling Ministries in Nashville, Tennessee. He is the co-author of eleven books, including his first full-color children’s book, Owen Learns He Has What It Takes: A Lesson in Resillience. He is an in-demand speaker and frequent guest on national television, radio and podcasts and has been featured in publications like The Washington Post and USA Today. He is the co-host of the 15 million+ downloaded podcast, Raising Boys and Girls. He and his wife, Connie, have three adult children, a new son-in-law, a soon-to-be daughter-in-law, and a yellow lab puppy named June. Follow David on Instagram @raisingboysandgirls.

Melissa Trevathan, M.R.E.

Melissa first became a youth director at the age of 16. Since that time, she has been a teacher, retreat leader, head of spiritual life at a private school in Nashville, and the Founder and Director of Daystar Counseling Ministries, which began in 1985. A graduate of Southwestern Baptist Seminary, Melissa has spoken to various churches and schools across the country, taught graduate courses in counseling adolescents and been a guest on television and radio programs throughout the U.S.  and Canada. Melissa is the author of eight books including, Raising Girls.
